Privacy policy
Your tasks, your conversations with the assistant and the screenshots you import never leave your device.
There is no account, no analytics, and no server of ours anywhere in the app. The only requests it makes go to your school and to your own iCloud, and they are all listed below.
Farpak LLC ("we", "our", "us") operates the Duelight mobile application. This policy explains how Duelight handles your information.
Duelight is built so that it functions entirely on your device. There is no requirement to share data with any external server, and nothing about you is sent to one.
1. What we do not collect
Duelight does not collect, transmit or store any of the following on external servers:
- Your tasks, assignments or academic data
- Anything you ask the assistant, and anything it answers
- Calendar or schedule information
- Screenshots or images you import
- Personal information such as your name or email address
- Usage analytics or behavioural tracking data
- Device identifiers for advertising
2. On-device AI processing
Duelight's assistant uses Apple's on-device foundation model, which runs on your iPhone or iPad. All processing happens locally. Your prompts, conversations and task data are never sent to a cloud service or an external API, and the assistant makes no network request at all.
3. Data stored on your device
Duelight stores the following locally, using Apple's SwiftData framework:
- Tasks you create, including titles, descriptions, due dates and priority levels
- Course names and categories
- Completion status and timestamps
- Your availability schedule blocks
- App preferences and settings
This data lives in your device's app sandbox. It is not accessible to other apps, and it is not accessible to us.
4. iCloud sync
Where enabled, Duelight uses Apple's CloudKit to sync your data across your own devices. That data is stored in your personal iCloud account and encrypted by Apple. We have no access to it. See Apple's privacy policy for how iCloud handles your data.
5. Canvas LMS integration
If you connect your Canvas calendar feed, Duelight fetches assignment data directly from your institution's Canvas server using the URL you provide. That connection is made from your device to your school's server. We do not proxy, intercept or store any of it. Your feed URL is kept locally in your device's app preferences.
6. Notifications
Duelight sends local notifications to remind you of upcoming deadlines. They are scheduled on your device using Apple's notification framework. No notification data is sent to an external server.
7. The assistant's model
The assistant uses Apple's on-device foundation model, which is part of iOS 26 itself. There is no model file to download and no inference service to call. Turning the assistant on adds no network request of any kind.
8. School lookup during Canvas setup
While you are connecting Canvas, Duelight can help you find your institution. Typing a school name sends that name — and nothing else — to the U.S. Department of Education's public school directory at nces.ed.gov and to Instructure's public school search at canvas.instructure.com. No identifier of yours is attached, and the lookup only runs while you are typing in that screen.
9. Third-party services
Duelight does not integrate with any third-party analytics, advertising or tracking service. There is no Google Analytics, no Facebook SDK and no equivalent tool in the app.
10. Children's privacy
Duelight is designed for students of all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because all data is stored locally on the device and we collect nothing, Duelight is compliant with COPPA (the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act).
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will appear on this page with an updated effective date.
